But a link could never be established.Īnd on a final note: the CCTV footage (from a store) shows a kid who is probably Tristan and a man in the store with him who might or might not be connected. It seemed to me that LE really wanted to pin all unsolved cases in the area on Seel to finally close them. Also the description of the suspect in Tristan's case (a man with a pigtail around 30-40 years old) did not fit Seel who was both older at the time and never had long hair. The suspect was a very far reach from the beginning, as Tristan didn't match Seels profile at all. There is still a very slight chance because 2 of the suspect's fingerprints could not be reconstructed (he had been dead for more than a year when the story - a dismembered body found in a barrel in his garage by his daughter - broke). I'm in Germany and followed the coverage. No, Tristans murderer was NOT found! The suspect (Manfred Seel) was later ruled out, his prints did not match the ones at the scene. I'd sit in my room from 8-11pm, decide to go out for a drink, and by the time I hit the lobby there was one of my "friends" from the NGO, coincidentally also just heading out!Īfter a week of this I snuck out through the kitchen and actually someone 'decided' to 'meet with me' when I went off the radar, 'wasn't able to find me,' and stirred up shit with my boss about my 'disappearance.' Translation: fuck you for sneaking out through the kitchen.Īgain, I was a nobody, a handler for their real intelligence targets, and I felt imprisoned in the fucking hotel. As a young (e.g., totally meaningless) 'handler,' I was still not permitted to leave the hotel without someone from our "incredibly friendly" host NGO accompanying me. I was very young and while not naive (we worked closely with the CIA and had multiple briefings prior to the trip I'm referencing), I was completely shocked how pervasive the surveillance was. Plus I’m sure they were already well aware of the hardware used at the hotel. Some of those sound tedious/difficult but you know they probably had time to practice and went over the mock op plan several times. Someone had to exfil out a window, vent, or adjacent room of possible in that situation. Yank the cord to break it away when leaving. Maybe tie a thin piece of cord around the lug at the end of the chain, thread that through the track it slides into, string it up over or out of the door, almost close it all the way, and pull the cord up/over to slide it back into its track. Ever move a chunk of metal around with a powerful magnet through a piece of wood when you were a kid? Some type of really strong magnet to manipulate the lug at the end of the chain piece. Open the door a crack (as much as the chain would allow), grab the chain with the tool, and slide into place. Some type of specially made tool or pliers bent a certain way.
